The popular resale platform has revised its measurement guidelines for women's and children's clothes but did not contact every member regarding the update. Digital Channels Backlash Countless users and merchants have taken to social media stating that platform listings now display a different size category than originally posted because of the remapping. The company said the revised method more closely matches comparable marketplaces. The platform has recommended to examine their items and update the measurements by hand when needed, which has left users frustrated. Size Classification Updates Previously, the measurements included numerical and alphabetical indicators, for instance S/8 or M/10. The updated approach includes an alphabetical indicator and numerical range such as S/UK 8-10. With some products, the size labels have been reassigned - like an L measurement was previously a 12 but now shows as UK 16-18. Member Experiences Frankie Bridger, who creates plus-size fashion videos, explained the modification "makes transactions more difficult". "Not many brands say XL is a 20-22," the way the service now categorizes. A different member, located in Scotland, stated items she posted on Vinted with size 14 labels were showing in the marketplace as size 20–22. "Should someone sized 20-22 purchase these they will likely be quite upset," she said. Required Changes Charlotte Lunn, from Derby, explained she became annoyed by the change as she had to manually change the sizing for "all her products". "This situation is especially annoying, because of my ongoing medical condition and selling on Vinted has been paramount after experiencing income reduction," she explained. Marketplace Information The app has more than 100 million shoppers, including 18 million in the UK. It has emerged as a preferred choice compared to resale services such as eBay and Depop. This represents another occasion that an unexpected update within the service has received backlash: last year, Vinted reversed a change concerning shipment methods following member complaints.
